It’s the third week in July and we’ve been absent for a couple of weeks. While we were away, we decided that we wanted Gardening on a Dime to be a bit cleaner for mark up and css. That was becoming a bit challenging with our earlier blog. With much thought and lots of trials and errors (one trial, then two errors….another trial, who knows how many errors……you know the feeling), we decided to come back with a fresh light look.
And, seemingly always having blue skies coming our way, it felt right to abandon our earthen-orange theme for something brighter. We changed the fonts, made it easier to see what your mouse is highlighting, and simplified our menus. Our galleries have been revised and updated. Plus, a few new items have been added to Our Garden Shoppe.
With our return, we’ve brought with us a few pictures from an excursion to the beach. Whenever we visit the beach we look forward to seeing one of our favorite wild flowers, Indianblanket flowers.

Gaillardia pulchella, also know as Firewheel and just plain Indian Blanket grows throughout most of the central United states. In our area, they grow wild on the sand dunes. Liking hot weather, we caught them at the beginning of their flowering season. Most of the time you will find them growing upwards of two feet tall and about the same around.
They definitely brighten our days at the beach.
Also, we came across a sign on the edge of the dunes.

So as a matter of public service on our part, we encourage everyone that visits our area’s beaches to please respect the signs and the rules that they display. If you are with somone who forgets or is just too busy to slow down and follow the right path, please stop them. Remind them that the dunes are fragile and that they are wonderfully fortunate to be part of another of nature’s finest gardens.
We’re glad to be back and hope to share more with you soon.
Happy Gardening,
Dave and Trish
